Ever This Day, Be At My Side

In honor of the feast of the Guardian Angels on October 2nd, I thank God for the holy angels He has given to all of us.

My Guardian Dear

I learned about him in first grade, probably not long after my act of "innocent defiance" (told about today at The Breadbox Letters).  His prayer was the first I memorized from my little catechism.  I was pleased when Sister placed, IN my book, right beside the printed prayer, a shiny gold star!

Happy feast day, guardian angel.
After all you've seen me through,
it is you
who deserves the star. 

Angel of God my guardian dear,
to whom God's love 
commits me here. 
Ever this day be at my side
to light, to guard,
to rule, to guide.  Amen.
